The Punxsutawney Borough Public Works Department is in charge of maintaining the Borough's streets and alleys, performing fall leaf curbside collection, maintaining Borough property (including parks), and maintaining the sanitary and storm water collection system.

A schedule of the fall leaf curbside collection will be posted in the Spirit newspaper.

A schedule of periodic tree trimming collection will be posted in the Spirit newspaper.

The department is responsible for all aspects of street and alley repairs and maintenance including: repairing potholes, coordinating street paving, performing snow and ice removal, providing street sweeping, etc. There are approximately 24 miles of paved municipal roads in addition to 15 miles of alleys to maintain.
